Problem

Trusted connection error when running Crystal reports

Getting a trusted connection error when trying to run a custom/site report. The report works perfectly when executed in Crystal reports, only comes up with an error when running in Synergetic.

Solution

This error appears if the report has been designed using trusted connection. Unless the report created is used only by the person who designed it in synergetic, trusted connection should never be used for report creation.

To fix the error, please follow the below steps.

  1. Open the report in Crystal Reports and go to Database>Set Datasource Location
  2. Drill into the properties and you will notice trusted connection is set to 1. Change the value to 0 and click 'Enter'.
  3. You will be prompted with a login screen where you a SQL username and password can be entered.

NOTE: A generic SQL account may need to be created with relevant database access if windows authentication is being used for all users.
