2022 VCAA NAPLAN Data Rules

The following email notification was sent on 21/01/2022 to Victorian Sys Admins advising of some manual updates which may need to be made the the NAPLAN Export File

Dear Victorian Synergetic Supported Users,

As you know the NAPLAN Student Registration submission is due imminently.

We recently received very late advice from VCAA in regards to this submission, being:

We have implemented a couple of changes for student registration data collection in 2022.

The file structure template remains the same as previous years, however the following two fields have been updated.

Gender: Will accept a new gender X option. (M, F or X)
Salutation: Will become optional. (Either Mr, Miss or Mx or blank as the accepted options)

Unfortunately, we do not have sufficient time to implement and distribute a system change for this.

For any values that do not meet these new data rules, schools will need to manually adjust Gender or Salutation in the exported file output, as required. This can be done in the submission template itself prior to submitting the data.

Instructions to Update the Gender or Salutation are as follows:

Run the NAPLAN Export as per standard process - Import_Export Student Data - NAPLAN tab

In windows Explore Navigate to and open in NOTEPAD the NAPLAN Export File
For any students who have Other Gender, their Gender Field will be blank
Change to X (for Other)

Review the salutation field and make any adjustments as required.
Save the file and submit as per normal process
