Viewing the message log

Synergetic contains tables that record system messages and user responses to them. Originally, Synergetic Management Systems used these tables to help diagnose problems in Synergetic.

This facility has been extended so that:

  • system administrators can monitor the usage of Synergetic
  • individual users can also view their own messages and responses.

To view the message log:

  1. Select Module > System > View Message Log.
    The View Synergetic Message Log window is displayed.
  2. Make your selections in the selections area.
  3. Click Refresh.
    Messages that meet the selection criteria are displayed.

Trace Types

You can trace who is doing what in the system, by configuring Synergetic to trace different types of actions.

Note: Message logs are kept for one year.

To configure Synergetic with different trace types:

  1. Select Module > System > Configuration File Maintenance.
  2. Scroll down until the Key1 field shows System and the Key2 field shows MessageLog.
  3. Change the value of the required traces to True.
  4. The relevant Trace Type fields are enabled to allow you to display trace information in the message log.
