Deleting staff members or making them inactive

When a staff member leaves a position, you can either:

  • Flag them as being inactive. Their details remain in the staff database.
  • Delete them. Their details are removed from the staff database.

    Note: When you delete or deactivate a staff member, they are removed from the staff constituency @STF and placed in the past staff constituency @STPF.The NextConstituencyCode of the luConstituency lookup table is used to determine the next constituency that a community member is put in if they are removed from the constituency they are a member of.

Making a staff member inactive
To make a staff member inactive:

  1. Select Human Resources > Staff Maintenance from the SynWeb main menu.
    The Staff Search Criteria window is displayed.
  2. Search for the staff member. See Searching for staff members.
  3. Click the School bar.
    The School bar of the Staff Maintenance window is displayed.
  4. Clear the Active Staff Member field.
    The staff member is removed from the current staff constituency and moved to the past staff constituency @STFP

Deleting a staff member
To delete a staff member:

  1. Select Human Resources > Staff Maintenance from the SynWeb main menu.
    The Staff Search Criteria window is displayed.
  2. Search for the staff member. See Searching for staff members.
  3. Select the staff member in the Staff Selector grid.
  4. Click .

    Note:
    You cannot delete staff members with active learning areas. See Staff Maintenance - Learning Areas bar.
     
  5. Click .
    The following window is displayed.
  6. Type Delete to confirm that you want to delete the staff member.
  7. Click .
    The staff member is deleted and moved to the past staff constituency @STPF.

    Note:
    The staff member can still be found by searching for Inactive staff.
