Overview

This document provides an overview on the responsibilities required of System Administrators in regards to maintaining the software, hardware and infrastructure necessary for optimum performance of the Synergetic application and associated systems.

Synergetic Management Systems Responsibilities

Synergetic Management Systems is responsible for:

  • Maintaining the Synergetic Application, Web Applications and databases.
  • Initial installation and configuration of SQL Server and Internet Information Systems (IIS) including maintenance, backup and copy scripts.

Client System Administrator Responsibilities

Client System Administrators are responsible for: 


    • Maintaining the server and workstation operating systems including but not limited to applying service packs, patches, antivirus and backups. We recommend installing all Windows Server updates when they become available.
    • Maintaining SQL Server and IIS including applying service packs and patches. We recommend installing all SQL Server service packs and updates when they become available.
    • Maintaining third party applications such as web browsers and office productivity tools.
    • Maintaining the virtual machine infrastructure (if in use) and ensuring adequate resources are available to the guest operating systems.
    • Maintaining the physical machines running the virtual machine infrastructure (if in use) and workstations. This includes ensuring there are adequate resources available to support the virtual machine infrastructure and workstations.
    • Maintaining the network infrastructure including firewalls, proxy servers, internet access, network switches, routers and cabling.
    • Securing the environment across all applicable layers to protect data and system configuration from unauthorised access and changes
    • Monitoring the database and web servers for errors, performance, security and backups. Synergetic Management Systems is available to assist with errors, performance issues and configuration changes which is outside standard support and will incur additional costs.
