Progressing Towards or ‘PT’ score
From 2025, a ‘Progressing Towards’ or ‘PT’ score can be uploaded to CASES21 for students who have not yet reached the lowest level provided for the relevant curriculum area. As well as mandating that this new ‘PT’ score must be available as an option for teachers in reporting software, the Victorian Government also stated:
"The scoring range for most curriculum areas is from Level A to 11.0. However, some curriculum areas do not have Levels A-D or commence at higher year levels, so therefore the scoring range starts from a higher level. For example:
- English Version 2.0 is taught from Prep and commences from Level 0.5 (while English Version 2.0 Foundation Levels A to D is in development).
- Ethical Capability can be taught from Prep and commences from Level 0.5.
- Civics and Citizenship is introduced from Year 3 and commences from Level 2.5.
- Visual Communication Design is introduced from Year 7 and commences from Level 6.5.
If a student has not yet reached the lowest level provided for the relevant curriculum area, schools will be advised to insert a new score of: “Progressing Towards” or “PT”. Note, while this is regarded as below expected level, it will not have a rating against the 5-point scale, as with some other codes such as Did Not Participate/DNP."
This functionality is enabled by adding the PT (Progressing Towards) result to the Mask field on the luReportResultType lookup table.
