What's new to Assessments and reports

If a student has not yet reached the lowest level provided for the relevant curriculum area, the Victorian Government has advised schools to insert a new score of: “Progressing Towards” or “PT”. Note, while this is regarded as below expected level, it will not have a rating against the 5-point scale, as with some other codes such as Did Not Participate/DNP. Victorian Government has advised that circumstances where PT - Progressing Towards would be used are expected to be rare.

This release introduces PT to the Vic Curriculum results where required.

Synergetic will calculate as PT overall, any subject assessment fully assigned as PT or with a sub-component assigned a PT.

Please note: Certain views that return the Vic Curriculum calculated results for each strand will show PT in the ResultGrade field but Result will be empty, similar to how DNP works.  Schools with custom reports are advised to test the behaviour of the PT Result in their reports. For schools with customised Academic Reports with a Legend, they should also consider updating Legends as required.

The new feature enhances the speed of printing student reports in a hosted environment. Synergetic now detects if it is running in a hosted environment and optimises the process by generating, combining, and optionally storing reports directly from the hosted file system.

The Focus Area field has been added to the main grid area on the Students tab of Class Mainteance to allow teachers to quickly check what each student is focusing on for the class. For example, for a music class, a student might focus on violin.
