Payroll Maintenance - Declarations tab - KiwiSaver Opt Out sub-tab

New Zealand organisations can use the KiwiSaver Opt Out sub-tab to:

  • opt out payroll employees from KiwiSaver
  • specify payroll employee bank account details for refunded KiwiSaver contributions.

 Opening the KiwiSaver Opt Out sub-tab

To open the KiwiSaver Opt Out sub-tab:

  1. Select Payroll > Payroll Employee Maintenance from the main menu.
    The Set Payroll Search Criteria window is displayed.
  2. Search for the employee payroll record for the staff member. See Searching for payroll employees.
    The Personal tab of the Payroll Maintenance window is displayed.
  3. Click the Declarations tab.
    The Details sub-tab of the Declarations tab of the Payroll Maintenance window is displayed.
  4. Click the KiwiSaver Opt Out sub-tab.
    The KiwiSaver Opt Out sub-tab of the Declarations tab of Payroll Maintenance is displayed.

Fields

FieldDescription
Opt Out of KiwiSaver

Select this field to opt out of KiwiSaver.

Note: You must select this field to enable the fields below. 

Employee Opt Out Date

Date the payroll employee opted out of KiwiSaver. 

Late Opt Out Reason

Reason for the late KiwiSaver opt out request, if applicable.

You can select:

  • Employer did not provide a KiwiSaver information pack within seven days of starting employment
  • IR didn't send an investment statement upon allocation to a default scheme
  • Employer didn't provide an investment statement (for the employer chosen KiwiSaver scheme)
  • Events outside of control meant the opt-out application was unable to be submitted within the eight-week time limit
  • Did not meet the criteria to join KiwiSaver (see Employee information pack (KS3) for criteria)
  • Incorrectly enrolled under the age of 18
  • Other explanation.
Other Late Opt Out Reason

Explanation for the late opt out, if you selected Other explanation using the Late Opt Out Reason drop-down list.

Note: You must select Other explanation using the Late Opt Out Reason drop-down list to enable this field.

Refund Bank Details area fields

FieldDescription
Bank NumberBank number of the bank account receiving the contribution refund.
BranchBranch number of the bank account receiving the contribution refund.
Account NumberAccount number of the bank account receiving the contribution refund.
SuffixSuffix of the bank account receiving the contribution refund.
Reference NumberReference number for the contribution refund transaction.
Account NameName on the bank account receiving the contribution refund.

Grid area fields

Date the employee details declaration was created.
Declaration TypeType of declaration.
Start DateStarting date of the payroll employee.
Termination DateTermination date of the payroll employee.
IRD NumberIRD Number.
Tax Code

Tax code that applies for the employee based on information supplied by the employee upon the commencement of their employment.

Note: Whenever tax rates change, your administrator will receive a text file from Synergetic Management Systems that they can import. See Loading new tax rates.

Export StatusExport status of the Single Touch Payroll submission.

Common buttons
