Assessment areas can be used freely on the Formula sub-tab for calculations. See Subject Assessment Maintenance - Area tab - Formula sub-tab.
In the following example, both Weighted Average and Average use Written Exam, Oral Exam and Homework areas. This is not possible using the Summarise to Seq field.
A range of mathematical functions are available to use with the Formula sub-tab. See Functions used when calculating student results.
How to
- Add a weighted average formula. See Adding a weighted average formula to student results.
- Add a ranking formula. See Adding a ranking formula to student results.
- Add a decile formula to rank students and place them in decile (ten) groups. See Adding a decile or similar formula to student results.
Note: You can use this procedure for centile and quartile functions.
Traditional and new methods combined
You can also use the traditional method of summarising results for assessment areas using the Summarise to Seq field on the Area sub-tab. See Traditional method of summarising and linking assessment areas.
Synergetic will first summarise the results (as described above) then apply any formulas afterwards.
You need to set the Call Calculation Proc BEFORE processing Formula field on the Summary sub-tab before processing any formulas. See Subject Assessment Maintenance - Summary tab - Summary sub-tab.
