Adjust Employee Standard Pay Details / Updating Pay Rates

Summary

This article explains how to update / increase an employees Standard Pay defaults. 

End Result

The Pay Rate / Amount will be updated for all employees using the default amount or manually using the over ride function. 

Method

  • Open Payroll > Pay Code Maintenance 
  • Selecting the Pay code that requires the update use the Pay field to update the Rate and Units as require. Remembering this is the Default for all employees on this pay code so all employees will be updated.

  • This will update all employee on the code where they are set to 'Def' (default) in Pay Details

If an employee is paid using a specific pay code but you do not want to use the default amount, they will need to be updated on an individual level via the Pay Details Tab in Payroll Maintenance 

In the example pictured you can see the amount is manually overridden to be higher than the default which has also overridden the default amount.

Considerations

When an employee is set to O/R (override) they will not change back to default when the Pay code is update and will always need to be updated individually unless changed back to 'Def' (default)

You may also want to consider creating a separate Pay code instead of using an Override.
